Many firms are thinking of saving money by printing their own letterheads on the PC. But it is not as straightforward as it seems. Legal Firms need to be able to change their letterheads frequently when partners join or leave.

To avoid wasting pre-printed stationery, more and more firms are printing their own letterheads on letters, bills and faxes. This usually involves scanning in the firm's logo and using the resulting bitmap graphics file in the Word Processed document.

However, these graphics files can sometimes be very big and take up a lot of storage space if they are stored with each document. You can get round this by linking the graphics file, but this often slows down the whole editing process. A slicker solution is to have the scanned image converted to a font, this will then take up a tiny amount of storage space and will be very easy to use in any document.
