What happened to my Facebook Landing page? Facebook has moved the goalposts again...

Facebook has done it again! Just when I thought I had a nice Facebook landing page on my business page and was offering this as a service to my clients:

I woke up one morning (April 1st?  no - March 30th actually, but it might as well have been!) - and it looked like this:

Nice one, Facebook!  That looks great!  Now, not only do I have to change all my Facebook sites and my clients' sites, but I have to completely revise my website that talks about customising websites - grrrrr!

Business pages have been changed automatically, but don't think you can relax if you have a personal Facebook page - yours will be changed shortly if it hasn't been already - you can read more about it here  http://on.fb.me/Ji4k2p.  Watch out for my next blog that will tell you more about how to set up your new Timeline, or if you are struggling - get in touch with us and we can do it for you.

How many people visited your website today? The power of Google Analytics…

So you have a website, but is anyone looking at it?  The creation of a website is the beginning of the adventure, not the end.  It’s vital that people visit it – not only does this help you achieve a high position in Google searches so that you get more business, but this is your valuable means of communication with your existing clients.  Google can tell you what percentage of your visitors are new or returning.  Also, how long do they stay on your website?  Which page did they land on, and where did they go next?  Were they finding you through search engines, or did they click on a link from another site?  If they found you in a search, what words did they put in?

All this and much more valuable information you can find out by using Google Analytics.  It is a fairly simple process to sign up to Google Analytics and get a piece of code to paste on to your site.  If you don’t control your site yourself, Google even gives you an email to send to your site designer with the relevant code and information.  Once this is done, tracking starts on your site and stats start building up within a few hours and you can visit as often as you like to monitor the traffic flow on your website.  Get started now!
